Every December, people from all over the world come to South Florida for Miami Art Week. In recent years, the region has also seen an increase in new residents, leading to the opening of new restaurants, boutiques, and businesses alongside the established favorites that both tourists and locals enjoy.

The restaurant scene in Miami is particularly lively, with a wide variety of Caribbean, Central American, and South American options. Cuban food, in particular, is a local specialty and has been a favorite for many years.

Additionally, the area has welcomed restaurants with connections to popular establishments in other cities. Outposts of New York City favorites like Rao’s, Pastis, and Carbone have opened in South Beach, while London transplants like Sexy Fish Miami and Novikov Miami can be found downtown.

South Beach, with its bustling streets like Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road, is a popular destination for tourists. However, locals often prefer the quieter parts of Miami Beach, such as Sunset Harbour. This area is home to charming businesses like row., Consign of the Times, and Pura Vida Miami.

Further north is the Bal Harbour Shops, an open-air mall with luxury brands and popular restaurants like Carpaccio and Makoto. The beaches in the area, including Surfside and Haulover Beach, offer quieter and less crowded environments.

Wynwood is known for its vibrant street art and has become a hotspot for tourists. The neighborhood is home to hip restaurants like Uchi Miami and doma, as well as lively bars like Dante’s HiFi and Gramps.

Edgewater and the Design District offer a mix of high-end shops, international brands, and locally owned stores. Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink and Mandolin Aegean Bistro are popular dining spots in the area. Walking north, the atmosphere becomes more low-key, with bakeries, cafes, and shops like Baker and Barista and Upper Buena Vista.

In Downtown Miami, visitors can enjoy free activities like exploring Bayfront Park and visiting the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science. The area is also home to a variety of restaurants, including Tam Tam and the upcoming Mexican restaurant Chateau ZZ’s.

For a night out, Blackbird Ordinary in Downtown Miami offers a great atmosphere for enjoying beer and cocktails in their outdoor space.
