·1 min
On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, there was an announcement that the chaos at OpenAI, the world’s most valuable startup, has ended. Sam Altman will be returning as CEO, accompanied by a revamped board. The new board members are Bret Taylor as the chair, Larry Summers, and Adam D’Angelo. This agreement was shared on social media platform X. Greg Brockman, the former president of OpenAI, has also returned to the company. Altman expressed his love for OpenAI and the team’s mission and stated that his decision to join Microsoft was the best path for him and the team. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella supported Altman’s return and the new board structure. The decision to bring Altman back and reshuffle the board was made in response to over 700 employees who threatened to quit and join Microsoft if Altman was not reinstated. It is still unclear what the future holds for former CEO Emmett Shear. Elon Musk commented on Altman’s return, stating that OpenAI being semi-independent is better for the world than merging with Microsoft due to a lesser concentration of power. It is hoped that there will be no more unexpected developments in the near future.
