Conservative social media platform Parler announced plans for a comeback after closing earlier this year due to controversies and the hosting of illicit content. Parler intends to relaunch in the first quarter of 2024, aiming to return to its original purpose as a marketplace of ideas. Initially popular with conservative audiences, Parler also gained users dissatisfied with speech rules on mainstream platforms like Twitter. However, it faced criticism for allowing hate speech, misinformation, and the promotion of extremist views. The platform was removed from major app stores following its association with the planning of the Capitol attacks on January 6th.
